Before they opened the Middleton location, Blue Spoon alone was enough reason to drive up to the Sauk Prairie area. They have great sandwiches, great coffee, and a great view of the Wisconsin River. It's the perfect spot for a lazy summer day. It sound's like they plan to open more, but I hope they don't try to endlessly replicate the unique atmosphere of this place.

I understand this is a WI place to be but how can one put the Culver's stamp of approval and still serve a hamburger with NO fries. This is unamerican... Now dont get me wrong, the place is great and has amazing food. The view is outstanding as you can eat while looking for Eagles on the River. But with NO fries it can only get a three star from me! The coffee is great and they have free WiFi...

Inventive menu, genuinely hospitable staff, resonable prices, right on the river. The ideal stop when traveling north of Madison and/or to Wollersheim. GREAT place.

Very good coffee. Generally very friendly and courteous staff. The Blue Spoon seems to be a test kitchen, the guinea pig for a future franchise operation. As such, the customers get used for marketing research. Or so it seems. Over the years the menu has changed. The excellent pastrami sandwich has gone. The eggs benedict croissant breakfast sandwich is gone and the price of the remaining croissant breakfast sandwiches has risen to an astounding $5 for a result that is only half notch above the KwikTrip $2 pseudoeggmucmuffan. I don't know... but I sense that the ideas is to incrementally nudge the price up a bit at a time until the customer hollers. Or until they enhance the distinction between their other brand, Culvers, and the Blue Spoon. Culvers for the middle class, Blue Spoon for the rich retired folks who don't mind paying an inflated price if it guarantees that annoying teenagers will be kept out. Sorry Blue Spoon... you jacked up the prices until one more guinea pig squealed. Looks like I'll be saving my pennies for the occasional cup of coffee and not bothering with the food in the future. But it is hard to justify a 25 mile drive for anything on the Blue Spoon menu. Avoid the food items that are basically glorified garlic bread with a few scraps of cheese or veggies sprinkled on them. Your pockets will be empty and the pit in your stomach. Just a bit too stingy with the ingredients.

Looking for a lunch spot b/w hiking at Devils Lake State park and heading to check out the Wollersheim winery, we cruised down the "strip" in Prairie du Sac looking for place to eat. This one stuck out the best (out of the 3 or so total that were open on a Sunday!)...we felt that we really lucked out and this place was great. Had a really nice menu of sandwiches, salads, etc and we were happy with both of our dishes. It's perhaps a bit expensive for the area (not super pricey but $8 or so I think for most stuff) - we were on vacation so our spending was a bit skewed. It was too cold to take advantage of the outdoor seating but it looked very nice. If in the area, especially if going to the Wollersheim this is a great place to stop off for lunch or dessert.
